UCB Campus Computer Store Eligibility Criteria & Limitations
The Scholar's Workstation offers prices, products and services targeted towards higher education, for personal and departmental use. Due to the beneficial nature of products sold through campus resellers, manufacturers restrict the eligible customer base to support only a limited set of potential purchasers, and products are not intended for commercial use.

Abuse of eligibility and purchase limits may result in a permanent ban from purchasing at The Scholar's Workstation.
UCB Students - Currently Enrolled (UCB Photo ID Required, except as noted below):
- Incoming students without picture ID (must provide a copy of the intent to enroll email confirmation from UC Registrar)
- Full-time undergraduate and graduate students
- Graduate students on filing fee status (must provide current proof of filing fee payment)
- Summer Session students
- Students who graduate are eligible until the next semester begins
Eligible Affiliate Students:
- UCB Extension students: anyone currently enrolled in a credit course (numbered X1 through X499) or enrolled in a Certificate program at Extension. Proof of enrollment is an Extension enrollment confirmation form, or a letter of confirmation from an Extension department.
- GTU students enrolled in the Doctoral program
- Evening MBA students
- Hastings School of Law (must provide proof of eligibility)

Students that are not eligible:
- High school, community college, and all other non-UC Berkeley students including students from other UC campuses
- UC Berkeley graduate students who are on leave, and not on filing fee
- Student Groups and organizations
- Students who have graduted once the next semester has begun.
- Alumni
UCB Staff (UCB Photo ID required except as indicated):
- Career faculty and staff employees
- Career employees on preferential rehire status
- Employees on medical or paid administrative leave
- Officially retired Emeritus Faculty, UC Berkeley and LBL Staff (Retiree ID Card Required) are eligible to purchase select products only. See Purchase Allowances chart restrictions.
- GTU faculty members on an exception basis
Eligible Affiliate Staff:
- LBL career staff are eligible to purchase select products only.
- MSRI career staff are eligible to purchase select products only.
- Office of the President career staff
- UC Extension instructors. Provide a copy of their appointment memo. Are eligible to purchase select products only.
- Hastings School of Law Faculty and Staff

Staff that are not eligible:
- Lawrence Livermore Staff (including officially retired LLNL staff) are not eligible to purchase. The lab is no longer managed by the University of California.
- Temporary staff
- Contracted employees
- Staff employed as consultants on behalf of UCB
- Staff from other UC schools and labs (except those listed above)
UCB Post Doc and Visiting Scholars
- If you are a post-doc, visiting researcher, research assistant, or a visiting scholar you may be eligible if you meet these two requirements:
- Your appointment with the University is for a minimum of six months and you work 100% time. If you do, you must bring an original letter on department letterhead which is signed by the Department chair which states 1) your appointment with the University is for at least six months. 2) You work 100% time. 3) Your department fully supports your computer purchase. This letter must be presented at the time of order. There are no exceptions.
- MSRI Postdoc researchers and research professors who are here for one half year or one year appointments only are eligible
- Note: Post Doctoral and Visiting Scholars are not eligible for some student only software purchases. Check with TSW for eligibility before placing an order.

UCB Departments (recharges via web order form or TSW order form)
Department purchases are defined as any purchases using deparment funds. The department, grant or other entity maintains ownership of the items, regardless of who the end user is, including faculty and staff.- UC Berkeley departments under Regental Control
- Departments of the Office of the President located in Oakland use TSW Intra Campus Order Form
- LBL departments IF they have a UCB recharge account string

Not Eligible for Department purchases:
- The UC Procurement Card (PCard) cannot be used at TSW (TSW is a division of the Department of Information Systems & campus. Procard is for use with outside vendors.)
